I don’t feel like writing today. It took quite the willpower & one investor whose name starts with D asking me about when the next letter drops.
So here we are… it’ll be short, trying to write this using less than 10 songs.
Anyway, hiiii investor <3
Sometime last week, I went out to an area that brought back soooo many memories. This is the area where my secondary school was, so being there, I couldn’t help going to the past in my head.
Thinking about moments where we’d loiter after school, getting into school, walking around laughing & just yapping our heads off.
Then I thought about some of these classmates, wondering where they are now. How they’re faring, who’s still in the country, who’s out, who’s married, who has kids, etc.
But one thought that stood out in particular was that this was such a throwback.
Here I was, standing present in these mates’ throwback memory.
And then I laughed.
‘Cos I found it funny. A bit sad, but mostly funny.
Funny because, “yooo, here I am in your past!”
Sad because, “yikes, here I am in your past”
Anyhoo, there’s no moral lesson.
I can’t think of any. I just hope these people are doing okay wherever they are
But if you have any nice thoughts, I’m happy to hear.

🎒 Recommendations from June
I ate in June. ATE!
Food; especially during Sallah. The jollof & meat were bussingg & I ate a lot.
Medicine; because the malaria that caught me in the middle of the month had hands like Thanos’. (It’s also why there wasn’t a mid-month drop)
TV shows, books, podcasts, movies, ate.
And I’ll be recommending a few, so pick & choose.
First is Culinary Class Wars: It’s a cooking reality tv show on Netflix with amazing production & suspense. You won’t regret watching it, you’ll even learn a thing or 2.
I Get Gist for You (podcast): if you want to be entertained & laugh your head off, listen to these 2 guys talk about a load of things while yabbing each other. They’re new & are doing pretty good so far.
Maame by Jessica George (book): This was a very relatable coming-of-age book that I enjoyed more than I expected. Its themes are friendships, career confusion, office politics, grief, dealing with family issues, etc.
The Marked Heart (Netflix): A very thrilling Spanish show that tells the dark story of organ donation.
Debunking the Myths: A fresh look at Islam (book): If you’re a Muslim, pick up this book. It’s exactly as the title says; debunking the crazy myths surrounding the religion. Honestly, muslims worldwide need to do better. Book is available on Selar. Or you can DM. I’ll see if I can ask the author if it can be shared.
A book stamp: An impulsive buy from Alixpress but I recommend as a birthday gift for a loved one or even for yourself if you want to have something like an ‘official’ ID on your books hehe.
Tara’s body: The Sean Paul Dance Workout in particular. Banger! 💥 (YouTube)
Oh & if you watch The Bear, a new season is out!
🥽 Books read in June
Favs - Love from Mecca to Medina by SK Ali & Maame by Jessica George
Least fav - One Golden Summer by Carley Fortune
Attaching my TikTok for anyone who wants to peep how that (books & life) goes on a regular basis.
See you in July, investor. Stay healthy.
