been a minute since you saw this fool

Unless you’ve been living under an iced rock in Antarctica, there’s no way you’ll say you haven’t heard about this ‘we listen, we don’t judge’ trend.

So for November, I thought why not reveal to you some of my ‘judgeable’ characteristics for the fun of it?

We listen, we don’t judge

1. You see this newsletter you’re currently reading, I, the owner, am subscribed to it with 3 of my other emails. I took “be your own biggest fan” seriously because I can never get a 0% open rate. Not when my alter egos are always waiting to receive whatever letter I’ve sent to their inbox 🤭

2. I slept off at the cinema while watching Marvel’s Endgame. In my defense, it was during a boring scene!

3. I don’t immediately know my left from right. In fact, it’s a miracle I won a left-right game at a hangout yesterday. Looks like my frontal lobe is finally fixing the problem 🤞🏼

4. I dip bread inside tea sometimes…. (I know, I know).

5. When my youngest brother was still a baby, I used to steal his teething powder for myself to take. Not because I needed any extra teeth but because that thing tasted really nice 🥶

6. I squeeze my toothpaste from any angle. I never understand the fuss when people say from the top or bottom is best. I’m usually lost because ???? what does it matter? Is there toothpaste on the brush or not?

These are all I can remember for now hehehe, anyone you relate with? judging me for? 🧐

1. If Amala is your favorite food. 1 question - why? I don’t doubt Amala as a good food, I eat it too, albeit under duress but I don’t understand how it could be a favorite food, like best. What is inside the cassava fgs.

2. People who haven’t watched Sound of the Music. You’re just uncultured is all. That’s the only musical I wholeheartedly tolerate.

3. If you can’t cook 👩🏼‍⚖️

📅 November

My brain is ready for December break. In fact, I’m squeezing out extra juice to write this letter & it’s kicking me in the ass.

If only it was possible to get the whole December off.

How’s your brain faring?

Well at least Harmattan is in the air. This time last year it was raining in November. Crazy ting.

📚 Books

Fortunately for me, my tired brain did not mean books were prohibited.

For a book I was excited to pick up 1st, Only Big Bumbum Matters Tomorrow was quite a disappointing read. I had so many back & forth trying to make sense of the plot. Nahhhh, Nearly All the Men in Lagos are Mad >>> Only Big Bumbum…

Now you see Don’t Tell Daddy What Happened In Lagos? I finished it & was like “what daheck did I just read?” I wish it were longer cos it’s like the author dropped me in middle of the road & said ‘find your way’. It ended too quickly & it was highly dramatic. In a good way.

Other top reads were Hafsatu Bebi, Viola Davis’ Finding Me, What Happened to Janet Uzor, & One Week in October.

Started The Mindfuck Series a week ago and I’m already 3 books into the series (5 in total). It’s toooo good! It’s a thriller x romance theme & what I love the most about it is that it’s the woman doing the damage 🤭 finally!

All year long I’ve been yearning for a book where the woman will be the one showing the men shege & this series served it on a platter for me. It does, however, suck that the men already had their way in the beginning & the shege they're seeing is only just a form of revenge. I just need men to always stay in line tbh. Anyhoo, I 100% recommend 👍🏼

💤 Wrap it up

My plans for December are to wind down even if it means sleeping more. Dettying it a littu bit by going on a mini-travel, hanging out with friends, or going on a solo date.

See I’m just tired & I feel somehow about that because when I look around me, I see people who are doing a lot more than I am & have so much energy so I don’t get where my tiredness is from. Oh well.

The plan for me & you is to not get any ancestral calling or join an initiation school because iz gonna be a big December, one way or the other.
